The first ViMBAR/ViMSAR match of the year is complete. We had an excellent turnout. The match was nearly full because of the large contingent of shooters from Las Vegas who traveled up north to join in the fun. It was good to shoot with old friends again, and meet a few new faces as well. Given the cold spring season we've had, the weather actually turned out pretty good... bit of a chilly wind on Saturday but then the sun came out in full force on Sunday for the semi-auto match. Despite trying to run the walkabouts quickly, each match made for a long day because of the large groups of shooters, but overall, everything went pretty smoothly. We couldn't shoot tracers, after setting off a tiny wildfire in the brush, so the airplane shoot was cancelled, but Joe Brennan brought out some tannerite and everyone had fun setting it off after Saturday's shoot.
I wasn't much of a photographer this year, but I know a few of you were out taking pictures, so if anyone has any photos they'd like to share, email them to me at sue @ vimbar.com (no spaces) and I'll add them to the site.
Complete scores will be posted as soon as I get the spreadsheets from Denny. Stay tuned.
We had a pretty good turnout; great weather too, unlike the Buffalo match later in the month that was fairly windy and miserable. Photos of the ViMBAR match are already posted. To see the rundown on the scores, check the links below.

We had a better turnout than expected. Being a first for this particular event at our range, there were some hitches, but everyone seemed to have a good time and especially enjoyed shooting a new event. Many commented that it was fun to not be given distances to the target and have to figure out for themselves how far away the target was and what the sight setting should be. (It is sometimes a surprise to find out just how wrong you are!) Denny is curious to find out what you all think... please see the Forum for his question and please feel free to make suggestions for next year's match. We have also posted pictures for the match on the Photos page. Scroll down for a link to the complete results.

Here are the winners from the match, l to r: Jim Secrist, Reynold Brown, Shannon Secrist. Good shooting!

We had a good turnout to the first match of the season and it was a lot of fun! Peter changed up the walkabout scenario and most people seemed to enjoy the changes... Some very high scores were posted for the day. The airplane shoot was also a little unique this year; we got some miniature LED lights from Joe Brennan to put on the plane which made it easier to see in the dark, and Denny flew until well after dusk. I can't wait until you see the great movie we got of the hundreds of tracers aimed at the plane! It looks like that is our last tracer shoot of the season, though - the grass is now too dry to withstand any errant sparks. I don't have my movies or pictures up yet; I still need to get them downloaded and compiled. If any of you have good pictures or movies of the matches you'd like included, please email them to me at sue@vimbar.com.

Thanks for your patience. It has been a busy autumn with vacations, work, and the piling up of tasks and somehow this one keeps sliding by... but I'll try to not let this go so long after next spring's matches. I'm still compiling all the pictures I received from the September match and hopefully I can get them posted during the Thanksgiving weekend and before I leave town (again! Phew!). If any of you have good pictures or movies of the matches you'd like posted, please email them to me at sue@vimbar.com.
IF YOU HAVEN'T ALREADY CHECKED OUT OUR FORUM, DENNY AND PETER HAVE SOME QUESTIONS FOR ALL OF YOU REGARDING THE POSSIBILITY OF A SNIPER-STYLE MATCH. This would not replace the regular ViMBAR/ViMSAR but would be held as a side match or a separate match. Post a message - we'd like to know your opinion on what you think would work best, and what equipment should be allowed.
