NEW! The sniper match is now a reality. The schedule has been posted.
THE PICTURES AND RESULTS FROM THE SEPTEMBER MATCH HAVE NOW BEEN POSTED!
Also check out the information on the M1 GARAND posted on our RIFLES page. This information was very kindly provided by Jim Secrist. If any of you have similar information on other equipment used to participate in ViMBAR/ViMSAR, we'd like to share it with our visitors. Email us and we'll post any articles and pictures of interest.
PLEASE NOTE - NEW! We are thinking of starting a sniper match. Acceptable rifles would be the same as in our ViMBAR match, but equipped with a fixed power scope of 6X or less (we'll call these "makeup" sniper rifles). The shooter could also use an original equipment sniper rifle such as the 91/33s available now, a Swedish, or Swiss sniper rifle. We had an experimental match during our September ViMBAR match with two original rifles and two makeup rifles. Results seemed to be similar amongst all the rifles, so there doesn't appear to be any advantage or disadvantage with either type.
Please check out the ongoing discussion in our FORUM and add your suggestions or ideas.
THE PICTURES AND RESULTS FROM THE MOST RECENT MATCH HAVE NOW BEEN POSTED! Thanks to all for your patience. We had a small turnout for the July shoot probably mostly due to the stretch of 100-plus degree weather we enjoyed the past month; however, all the diehards showed up anyway and we had a great time despite the sun. We had several new shooters this month, but they came in full style two showed up driving their own military jeeps, while one came in full costume with a brand new Garand!
The walkabout on both days took place in the morning due to the projected high afternoon temperatures, and even in the early morning plenty of water was a requirement up on the range. Later in the day folks took cover under whatever shade they could find while waiting to shoot their turn on the line match. Due to the small numbers, the match concluded pretty early, which was probably for the best as it was pretty hot out there.
See our photos page for pictures of the shooting events, plus the winners of each day's match. We would like to thank everyone who contributed pictures to the website. I have found an easy way to compile them all into a photo gallery that is simpler and quicker than the previous method; however, I am still trying to figure out how to insert a caption where I can give credit to the photographer of each picture. In lieu of that, the kind folks who sent me pictures to post are Jim Secrist, Jamey Williams, Denny Wilcox, and Peter Sodoma. Great pictures! As the website progresses, I'll be using some of them as permanent page illustrations.
As always, early registration is encouraged! The September match should be a bit cooler, so those of you put off by the hot temps, there is no excuse not to come out and shoot!
